International Day of Disabled persons cherished in Jowzjan

A provincial training program was conducted in Sheberghan city to raise awareness about the rights of people with disabilities.
The program was organized by Martyrs and Disabled Directorate of Jowzjan province in cooperation with Swedish Committee for Afghanistan, which was attended by a number of government officials, representatives of non-government organizations and dozens of people with disabilities.
Abdul Fattah Qate, Head of Martyrs and Disabled Directorate in Jowzjan, stated that the purpose of the program was to identify the challenges of the disabled, resources and ways to address the challenges in coordination with the departments involved in disability affairs.
Manizha Baburi, In-charge of People with Disabilities department of Swedish Committee for Afghanistan in the north, says the program was launched in ten provinces, including Balkh, Jowzjan and Sarepul.
Officials at Martyrs directorate maintain more than 2,000 people with disabilities have been registered with them who receive pensions from the government.
