More than 500 families displaced by the recent battles in Sarepul province were provided with cash and non-cash assistance by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Abdul Ahmad Iqbal, head of Refugees and Repatriation Department in Sarepul, told Bawar that the aid included 15,350 Afs in cash, 3 blankets and 12 other items for every family.
Mr. Iqbal is not satisfied with the assistance and calls on other aid agencies to help the displaced in the difficult winter season.
While appreciating IOM’s aid, a number of internally displaced people called on the government and the Taliban to reach an agreement on a ceasefire and peace as soon as possible so that they can return to their homes.
Earlier, officials from Sarepul’s refugees’ department had announced food and non-food assistance to the displaced by World Food Programme and UNHCR.
