Today, a number of teachers and low-ranked government employees demanded that their salaries and benefits be equalized in a peaceful march.
Ahmad Noor Khadimzada, Chairman of Sarepul’s elected council of teachers, said the purpose of the rally was to raise awareness about levelling the salaries of teachers and low-ranking government employees, which the government should pay attention to and respond positively to otherwise, they would expand their advocacy and go on strike.
The marchers also chanted slogans such as “We want justice in the exercise of our rights, we want our livelihood equalized and we want housing” and submitted a three-article resolution to Sarepul governor which focused on increase of their salaries and rights.
However, Abdullah Akbari, the head of Sarepul province’s sectors, promised to convey their demands to the authorities.
Meanwhile, people’s representatives in National Assembly also approved a plan to equalize the salaries of teachers and low-ranking government employees, and stressed that they would reject the budget for 1400 fiscal year as long as the government has not considered its implementation.
