Displaced families receive winter aids in Baghlan

Refugees and Repatriation Department of Baghlan distributed cash and warm clothes to 676 war-displaced families in the province.
“The families had been displaced by war this year, each of whom received AFN 15,000 in cash, as well as a winter package containing blankets and clothing,” Sharifullah Shafaq, head of Baghlan’s Refugees department said.
The assistance was provided by IOM with funding from USAID following a survey of displaced families as a result of war in various districts of the province, he added.
According to Shafaq, the government is trying to address the needs of the displaced in Baghlan and the aid distribution process for the needy is ongoing.
A number of families who have received assistance, however, asked for more help from the government, maintaining they are in a difficult situation.
Data in Refugees and Repatriation Department of Baghlan show that more than 20,000 families have been displaced in the province in recent years, about 7,000 of whom have been due to war.
