Advocacy to strengthen national unity, support Jogi tribe in Jowzjan

Universal Necessity Relief Organization (UNRO), in cooperation with the Jowzjan’s Tribal Affairs Department launched a program to strengthen national unity among states and support Jogi tribe in Sheberghan.
“Purpose of the program is to advocate for Jogi tribe so that their voices can be heard by authorities and their challenges in various areas of social life can be addressed,” Samiran Malekyar, head of UNRO in Jowzjan said.
Mirwais Abdali, head of Tribal Affairs Department in the province stated that 160 Jogi families lived in the city of Sheberghan, and that his administration was able to launch various social and awareness programs to improve their lives at different times.
At present, 30 children of the Jogi tribe, who were deprived of school and education, have been provided with an opportunity to study and Tribal Affairs Department intends to place the Jogi tribe in a specific area and name it after them, Abdali added.
A number of Jogis living in Jowzjan, in the meantime, urged the local population to put aside racial prejudices and accept them as citizens.
