Handicrafts, paintings’ exhibition held in Balkh

A number of women held a one-day exhibition of handicrafts and paintings under the title “Anari” in Mazar-e Sharif city, capital of Balkh province.
The exhibition which was organized by Anari Art Gallery in coordination with Information and Culture Department of Balkh, featured women’s handicrafts and paintings in 13 stalls.
Nazanin Ferdows Rahimi, curator of Anari Art Gallery in Balkh, said the purpose of the event was to showcase the ability of women in arts and crafts.
She added that the exhibition presented nearly 600 works of art and handicrafts.
On the other hand, Mati-ur Rahman Karimi, Head of Information and Culture Department in Balkh, stated that launch of such exhibitions shows that women can also play an important role in investment process and handicraft products.
Mr. Karimi added that people’s appreciation of such events can help women function better and become more motivated in society.
Meanwhile, women in Balkh have always complained about the lack of a specific place to display and sell their handicrafts, and have called on the government to establish an appropriate and permanent place for them.
