Khuram’s Dehasl monastery recreated in Samangan

Officials from Information and Culture Department of Samangan province say they have rebuilt the historic Dehasl monastery in Khuram wa Sarbagh district.
Azizurrahman Qatra, Director at Samangan’s culture department, told Bawar the renovation of the monastery cost more than AFN 4 million.
The restoration of the historic-religious site, which has been registered as a monument at the Ministry of Information and Culture, was not considered for many years, according to Mr. Qatra.
Cultural activists in Samangan welcomed the initiative and called on Samangan’s culture department to pay attention to the reconstruction of other heritages in the province before their destruction.
Samangan has at least 30 monuments, and the restoration of one of the largest; Takht-e Rustam, is underway.
