Baghlan’s Public Health Department begins urban ambulance services

Ambulance services of Baghlan’s Public Health Department was inaugurated and put into operation this morning to deal with emergencies.
Dr. Mohibullah Habib, Director of Public Health Department said three ambulances equipped with professional staff will serve residents of Baghlan 24/7 from now on.
Ambulance services department has 32 ambulances in Baghlan, 3 of which operate in the city, he added. According to him, city ambulance services was established whereas last year more than 2,800 people were injured in the province in war, traffic accidents and natural disasters.
Baghlan connects 9 provinces in the north and northeast and many traffic accidents and conflicts take place on its highway, prompting the need for better ambulance services, provincial Governor Mohammad Akbar Barekzai said during the inauguration of city ambulance services.
According to provincial public health officials, including five hospitals, 90 health centers provide services, and compared to two decades before, 85% of the population now has access to health facilities.
