Vaccine roll-out for the coronavirus began in Sarepul this morning with administration of the first dose to provincial Public Health Director.
Out of 500,000 doses of vaccine assisted by India, 6,980 doses have been sent to Sarepul. 500 doses will be given to Afghan security forces and the remaining will be administered to provincial health care workers and residents, Dr. Noor Ahmad Ishaqzai, Public Health Director in Sarepul said.
Qurban Murad Murad, Sarepul Governor, who was present at the ceremony, called on vaccinators to be careful in implementing the vaccine and to work in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health.
According to health officials in the province, no positive cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the province in the past two weeks.
Administration of vaccines started in Sarepul after the process was officially commenced by Afghan president Ashraf Ghani in the presidential palace and the first round of vaccines was allocated to journalists, security forces and health care workers.
