Turkmens inaugurate first radio in Sheberghan

First radio station of Afghanistan’s Turkmens began broadcasting in the city of Sheberghan on Tuesday evening.
Mohammad Bashir Hakimi, the radio station’s owner, said the purpose of creating Turkmen FM was to convey the voice of Turkmens to the authorities, adding that the local radio station will be aired on 92.9 FM from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. in Turkmen and other official languages of Afghanistan.
While expressing support for the radio, Sayed Ahmad Hussain Ahmadpor, Head of Information and Culture Department in Jowzjan stated that the activity of media is important in strengthening reporting and public awareness.
According to officials, there are 13 local radio and four television stations in the province.
