People’s Peace Movement launched a program called “Foreigners are leaving, what is the war for?” in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif.
Jalaluddin Shirzad, the organizer of the event, says that in addition to Balkh, this movement has been launched simultaneously in 25 other provinces of the country.
Mr. Shirzad articulates that with the withdrawal of foreign troops, there is no other excuse for the Taliban war in Afghanistan and that there should be a nationwide ceasefire.
Meanwhile, the participants of the movement state that they are tired of the killing of innocent people and the continuation of the illegitimate war in the country, and they want a ceasefire and lasting peace.
It is worth mentioning that the resolution of People’s Peace Movement states that more than 200,000 Afghan children, men and women and around 3,000 foreigners have lost their lives in more than twenty years of war in Afghanistan and more than one trillion dollars has been spent. Yet, poverty has risen, and the Afghan people have not experienced peace.
It is said that the peace talks in Istanbul, Turkey will be held after Eid al-Fitr.
