Women activists in Balkh expressed concern about the delay in peace talks.
We unanimously raised our voices to make the international community aware that the Afghan people, especially women, are vulnerable and concerned about the symbolic role of women in peace talks, said the women.
Meanwhile, Feriba Akbaryar, one of the organizers of the event, stated that all armed groups in Afghanistan must agree to a ceasefire and enter into negotiations in good faith to achieve peace.
“Women should be part of the government formed as a result of peace talks, their achievements should be preserved, and they never want to go back to the dark Taliban era,” said Akbaryar.
On the other hand, participants of the program issued joint declaration of Afghan women, which articulated the concerns and priorities of Afghan women regarding the peace process.
“After the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan, there is no excuse for the war to continue,” a part of the declaration said.
It is worth mentioning that this program was held simultaneously in 34 provinces of Afghanistan.
