Employees of electronic ID cards centers in Baghlan went on a labor strike today.
Ahmad Zia, Head of first district ID cards center in Baghlan, says that today all the employees of the center went on strike due to non-payment of their salaries.
Salaries of the past five months have not been paid and the employees are facing serious economic challenges in the month of Ramadan, he added.
“Some of our employees have not paid their rents and electricity bills,” said Ahmad Zia.
Sohrab Jahd, Head of second district ID cards center in the province, stated that he had to feed his children, but non-payment of his salary would force him to commit corruption.
Employees of electronic ID cards centers warn that they will continue their strike action if the Ministry of Finance does not address their problem.
These staff have gone on strike while hundreds of people come to their offices every day to get electronic ID cards.
