A number of security forces in Jowzjan distributed clothes for Eid and school kits to 50 working children in the city of Sheberghan.
Jowzjan police spokesman Ahmad Masoud Nadim said the aid included footwear, body warmers, school bags and some other kits, which had been bought and distributed spontaneously by a number of soldiers and officers for destitute children.
Nadim called on Sheberghan residents to bring smiles on the faces of working children by buying them a set of clothes.
Meanwhile, a number of child laborers who benefited from the aid said they were happy to be able to put on new clothes on Eid. They wanted to study and serve their people and country like soldiers and officers in the future, the children added.
Social activists believe increase in insecurity and poverty in northern provinces, especially in Jowzjan, is one of the reasons for rise in the number of impoverished children, and consider it is essential that aid programs continue to help the needy.
